OT pulley

There is soon to be a new reproduction of the Porsche OT pulley, in aluminum instead of the OG steel. We here at the OSS have not gotten our hands on one of them yet, and thus can not vouch for the quality or fit. But the sample does not look half bad.

Norton engine

The riddle has been solved.

Check out the Samba post for the answer to last nights engine riddle.

Learning about these odd little pieces of history always motivates the OSS to go out to the laboratory and start tinkering. To bad there are not more inventive people out there that could cut up a V8 head and graft it to a KDF motor... and product 70hp out of it!!!

We think this kind of invention will be the next step in the 36hp challenge and perhaps one day even some old VW road racing with 1100-1200cc engines??? Not the historical racing we see here in the US but REAL racing. Could be fun?

A guessing game.

Not sure what the hell it is but Oh MY it is beautiful, just look at the heads on this beautiful little engine. And a 1100cc that puts out 70hp!!! This make me want to have some custom heads cast.

Now back to the engine porn

Testing, testing.

A parcel will be given to the USPS this week so they can oh so delicately bring it to our door... or PO box as the case may be. Inside of this neat little package will reside a selection of early VW distributors that will brighten up the day.

But due to the high influx of new distributor heading to the shack we are going need to track down a Sun distributor tester like this one:

Original Video - More videos at TinyPic

If you are interested in the 36hp challenge, or just like fast old speed VWs check this little video out. It was taken at Maxton, NC where you can take your old jalopy and see how fast it can still go.

Thanks to Bruce and Cody Cook for the use of the video. Oh and it is their car also.

Humm... The video did not post in the correct size, if anyone know why then drop us a line.

Slowing down...

Things are slowing down here at the OSS, the cold is moving in and the leaves are falling down. That does not fair well for working on the working on the good ol' projects here in the north east. Chilly! Here is just a little eye candy, or some valve springs depending on how you look at it.
