Hurst shifter rebuilds.

Finished my 4th rebuild over the weekend and DAMN these thing can be a pain some times! The last one came out really nice in its new copper powder coat. I have 1 maybe 2 more that i can rebuild out of this batch of shifter. But I'm not sure how many more of these i will do as they can be time consuming.

Thanks Rob(hotrodheb), arnaud julie et vincent, and Volkaholic for 3 of the pictures!

Secret speed project #2

Well SSP1 is officially dead in the water and will go on the back burner till a time come when it can be implemented.

BUT no fear as the Old Speed Shack is moving on! A back up plan was already in the works just for for this situation! Now parts and information gathering for SSP2 will go into high gear in the hopes that the project will be completed before the end of this summer. Though as with most projects, this one may take on a life of it own.

Here is one piece to the puzzle.

Secret speed project #1

After weeks of extensive research here at the Old Speed Shack the Secret Speed Project #1 or SSP.1, has hit a major snag. This "snag" is one that only boat loads of money could over come and the reality is the research is being conducted in a shack. :)

Here is a small hint of what the project is:

Abarth Kit

Been talking to Knechten over at Sechs volt garage about his 25hp Abarth kit that he modified to fit his 36hp! Nice little dual carburetor kit that give his motor a little more pep. Kenchten is currently tuning up his OG industrial 36hp motor for the 1100KM/683mile round trip to Hessich Oldendorf.

Sounds like a blast!

Here are some pics!

Motor #1

The first engine for the Beetle will be a stock 55 VW motor.
Not the prettiest thing but it will work for now.

The rise of the Speed Queen!

1.5 years into rebuilding this old bastard 61 oval but progress is NOW rolling along at a brisk clip!

A new passenger side floor pan has been welded in, rust inhibitor has been applied and now it time for the Second Skin Damper X!

Only set back is the loss of the OG head lights in a transport accident last winter.

More on this outlaw old speed beetle build later on!
